Series Rules

SERIES:  The NARRC Series is comprised of the following four Regions of the SCCA - Mohawk-Hudson, New England, New York, and Northern New Jersey.  It includes designated SCCA-NARRC races at five (5) circuits: 

  • Pocono International Raceway, Pocono, PA - PIR

  • Lime Rock Park, Lime Rock, CT - LRP

  • New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Louden, NH - NHMS

  • New Jersey Motorsports Park, Millville, NJ - NJMP

  • Watkins Glen International, Watkins Glen, NY - WGI

NOTE:  The NARRC Series decal, to be available at all NARRC events should be prominently displayed on each side of all competing vehicles in an appropriate manner.

ELIGIBILITY – Drivers:  Drivers holding valid SCCA National or Regional Competition Licenses or certain drivers with Novice Permits, and all others allowed to compete in SCCA Regional Events, per the current GCR.

 

Classes:  All GCR recognized regional classes plus:

NCF - NARRC Club Ford

CFC - Club Formula Continental

SSM - Showroom Spec Miata

IT7 - Improved Touring 7

ITE - Improved Touring E

SPO - Super Production Over

SPU - Super Production Under

The break between SPO and SPU is 2.5 liters engine displacement. 

SM / SSM: The spec tire is the Toyo Proxes RA1 205-50-15.

GTL:  Must meet all current GTL rules and regulations with the exception of mandatory use of an SIR. All engines currently listed in the current GTCS with an SIR may optionally use choke sizes, at the listed weights, as published in the 2007 GTCS for GTL. Engines not listed or showing choke sizing in the 2007 GTCS will be required to comply with current GTL specifications. This is a temporary classification to help teams adjust to implementation of SIR restrictors at a Regional level. This consideration will terminate 01/01/2010.

Bonus Points:

Start Bonus - Start 5 NARRC races and receive 300 points. No credit for a start with a DQ.

Track Bonus - Start at Pocono and NHMS and receive 500 points

DRIVERS!  Check the accuracy of your results for correct class, position, DNF vs. DNS, etc.  Unless it’s a points keeping error, no changes will be made without official, revised T&S results.  If you wish to waive (not be awarded) NARRC points for a particular event, you must deliver a written notice to the Chief of Timing & Scoring before your race at that event, so that the waiver can be noted in the results.

NARRC CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS are decided by total points accumulated in a class per the current scoring rules.  Drivers must accumulate a minimum of 1000 points to be eligible.  Also, for a class champion to be declared, a class must have a minimum of two (2) starters during the season.

NARRC Fee: The NARRC Committee will collect $6.00 of each entry fee from each NARRC sanctioned race. 

$3.00 of the fund is for Marketing and Advertising.

$3.00 goes toward the NARRC Administrative fund for trophies, banquet costs, etc.

OTHER ITEMS;  Tie breakers, points loss from exclusions, disqualifications, protests, etc. may parallel GCR National event rules.  The voting NARRC Committee Members will rule on situations not in the GCR.


Rules for Specific NARRC Classes

 IT7 (Class designation = IT7)

ITA rules for first generation Mazda RX/7

 

IMPROVED TOURING ENDURO (Class designation = ITE)

The purpose of the NARRC ITE class is to allow vehicles from other professional race

Series, Pro-Rally, Showroom Stock (those not otherwise eligible for IT or SS) and equivalent marque club classes to compete at a regional level.  No guarantee of competitiveness or equality is expressed or implied.

To that end, the ITE rules and guidelines are that ALL VEHICLES MUST:

-                  meet (at minimum) current Improved Touring safety specifications.

-                  Run DOT approved street radials; tire brand is free.  However, wheel and tire

Specifications must be per the original series rules.  Original series (except Pro-Rally) must have run exclusively on DOT tires.

-                  compete in their declared series specification, except for tire brand &

modifications, to meet SCCA safety specs.

-                  Display current SCCA Club Racing decals; all other sanctioning bodies’

Identification must be removed or covered.

-                  Posses an SCCA (only) vehicle logbook and roll cage number.

-                  Meet the current SCCA sound requirements.

 

ALL COMPETITORS MUST conform to current SCCA General Competition Rules.

ALL ENTRANTS MUST have in their possession, and available to tech personnel or the Chief Steward, the “Series Rulebooks and specification sheets” (IMSA Rulebook, SCCA Pro-Racing rulebook, Pro-Rally rulebook, etc.) and an official manufacturer’s shop manual(s) to authenticate the vehicle in its state / condition of preparation.

CLUB FORMULA CONTINENTAL (Class Designation = CFC)

Compliance is the responsibility of the class competitors.

Cars must conform to all specifications and rules applicable to regular Formula Ford 2000 per the current SCCA GCR – with these exceptions.

1.               Only Formula Ford 2000 cars homologated prior to 1996 are allowed.

2.               Minimum weight limit for 1990 and older cars – 1190 lbs. with driver.

Minimum weight limit for 1991 – 1995 cars – 1225 lbs. with driver.

Racing slicks are free; there are no spec tires.

Rain tires are free; there are no spec rain tires.

Bodywork is free, provided it conforms to GCR specifications for Formula Ford 2000.

NARRC CLUB FORDS (Class Designation = NCF)

 Note: Only Formula Fords (FF) and NARRC Club Fords (NCF) are eligible for NARRC points and NARRC trophies.

Compliance is the responsibility of the class competitors.

Cars must conform to all specifications and rules applicable to regular Formula Fords per the current SCCA GCR.  Also, the Northeast Division Club Ford rules apply – with these exceptions.

  1. While there is no model year cutoff, Club Ford is restricted to those older makes and/or models of Formula Ford that were originally offered with outboard shocks and springs on at least one end of the vehicle.  (Referred to as the 50% Rule.)

  2.  An ineligible Formula Ford model may not be updated or backdated to conform to Club Ford rules (i.e. Swift with outboard shocks and springs.)  Participants are  responsible for proving the eligibility of their car.

  3.  A Club Ford chassis may be updated or backdated within eligible models. (i.e.  Crossle 40F to 45F or PRS RH01 to RH02, etc.)

  4. ClubFords shall adhere to all Formula Ford class rules (engine, driveline, etc.) as    well as all safety regulations within the current SCCA GCR for Formula Ford.

  5. Bodywork and heat exchanger location is free, provided it complies with all applicable GCR specifications for Formula Ford cars

  6. Club Ford cars shall display the “NCF” class designation, as well as display the   appropriate NERRC and/or NARRC series decals.

  7. Racing slick options are: Goodyear 600; Hoosier 60.  Dunlop treaded tires may also  be used.  [Front – 135/545-13, Rear – 165/580-13, both CR tread, 434 Compound].  Rain tires are free; there are no spec rain tires. 

Note: for NARRC points purposes, Club Fords without spec tires should be classed and scored as Formula Fords (FF).

SHOWROOM SPEC MIATA (Class Designation = SSM)

For 2008 will race under the Northeast Division Showroom Spec Miata Rules.
